The National Motorsports Safety Association (NMSA) is a wholly owned-subsidiary of Gran Touring Motorsports, Inc (GTM) and operates as non-profit organization, incorporated in the state of Maryland, dedicated to owning, operating, and preserving Motorsports, Motorsports safety and spreading knowledge, awareness and Motorsports enthusiasm. GTM and NMSA are not directly involved in arranging and/or regulating sports car events and exhibitions. GTM/NMSA encourages safe and sportsmanlike conduct on public highways; and developing technical information relevant to these purposes.

The content found inside of the NMSA website has been derived from years or experience, research and inspiration from other sanctioning bodies like the SCCA, AMA, FIA, etc. References to content from these organizations are for informational purposes only.  The interpretation and application of materials found on the NMSA is not considered official, final or binding, NMSA defers to each sanctioning body individually for special rules, applications, processes, etc. NMSA information is designed as a general guideline to help promote Motorsports Safety across multiple disciplines of competition; all consumers of NMSA data expressly agree that:

  • NMSA officials’ determinations are non-litigable;
  • They will not initiate or maintain litigation of any kind against NMSA (and/or its parent company Gran Touring Motorsports, Inc) or anyone acting on behalf of NMSA to reverse or modify such determinations, or seek to recover damages or other relief allegedly incurred or required as a result of such determination; and
  • Any one who initiates or maintains litigation violating this provision agrees to reimburse NMSA (and/or its parent company, Gran Touring Motorsports, Inc) for all costs of litigation, including travel expenses and attorneys’ fees.
  • All money amounts specified within NMSA are in US Dollars.
  • The pronouns “he”, “his”, and “him” are generic and are not intended to indicate gender.
  • All dimensions are in inches unless otherwise noted.
  • The term “participant” refers to: Drivers, Pilots, Operators of various type of Motorsports Vehicles (cars, boats, motorcycles, planes, etc).

Assumption of Risk: All forms (disciplines) of Motorsport are a dangerous sport that can result in serious injury or death. Participation in all aspects of Motorsport is voluntary. The ultimate responsibility for participant and vehicle safety lies with the participant, vehicle owner, driver and crew members. The participant also acknowledges that by participating in the event, the participant may suffer bodily injury or death, or loss or damage to property. The participant further acknowledges that the participant has voluntarily, assumed the risk of bodily injury or death or loss or damage to, property and waives any claims for bodily injury or death, or loss or damage to property against NMSA (and/or its parent company Gran Touring Motorsports, Inc), its directors, officers, employees and agents, event officials, event sponsors, racetrack operators and other participants; discharges such persons and entities from responsibility for such losses; and covenants not to sue such persons and entities for bodily injury or death or loss or damage to property.

Contributors to The National Motorsports Safety Association (NMSA) agree to permit NMSA (and/or its parent company Gran Touring Motorsports, Inc (GTM)) and their assigns (including but not limited to sponsors, promoters/organizer of an Event), free of any charges duties or fees, to use, license, reproduce, have reproduced, show, have shown, without limitation in space or time, all soundtracks, photographs, drawings, trademarks, films/video pictures concerning competitors, their drivers, teams or cars involved in the event(s) on any medium whatsoever that is sourced by or under the authority of NMSA (excepting medium submitted by a participant as part of a formal protest or appeal procedure) for any documents, reports, coverage, broadcast, program, publication, video game or model production, software, etc. whether past, present or future. NMSA may freely assign or license its rights to a third party.
